  • Fine Arts Fund Seeks Out of the Box Agencies
    Cincinnati, Ohio
    job_location:
    Cincinnati, Ohio

    Request for Qualifications/Credentials
Fine Arts Fund seeks Out of the Box Agencies
Cincinnati’s Fine Arts Fund is seeking Outside-the-Box Agencies for a two-pronged project: 1) design work for a new logo and image profile to be created in conjunction with our current rebranding process and 2) the creation of a public relations strategic plan for launching our new brand in Q2/Q3 2010.
Since the 1950s, the Fund has raised private dollars, primarily through workplace campaigns similar to United Way, which support the Cincinnati region’s arts community. Over the past two years, we have refocused our efforts on a new set of objectives and goals and now find ourselves at the precipice of a significant shift in our mission.
Through an ongoing research initiative with Topos Partnership, we have discovered that the existing landscape of public understanding is not conducive to a sense of broadly shared responsibility for the arts. (You can download a copy of the full research report here.) To achieve that objective, we need to change the landscape by employing a message strategy that:
    •    Positions arts and culture as a public good – a communal interest in which all have a stake,
    •    Provides a clearer picture of the kinds of events, activities, and institutions in the sector,
    •    Conveys the importance of a proactive stance, and
    •    Incorporates all people in a region, not just those in urban centers.
Of the many communications approaches explored in testing, one stood out as having the most potential to shift thinking and conversations in a constructive direction. This approach emphasizes one key organizing idea:
A thriving arts sector creates “ripple effects” of benefits throughout our community.
There are two ripple effects that are especially helpful and compelling to enumerate:
    •    A vibrant, thriving economy: Neighborhoods are more lively, communities are revitalized, tourists and residents are attracted to the area, etc. Note that this goes well beyond the usual dollars-and-cents argument.
    •    A more connected population: Diverse groups share common experiences, hear new perspectives, understand each other better, etc.
Topos Partnership is developing a list of potential new organizational names that better reflect this new strategic approach in our communications, one of which will be selected prior to the work which this RFQ references.
Our partner(s) on this project may focus on one or both of the tasks mentioned above, dependent on their expertise and skill sets. It is very important for our partner(s) to be open to working with the Topos Partnership and the communications research results. Finally, our partner(s) must be willing to take a new approach to doing business. We have been doing things the same way for almost 60 years and now it’s time to approach this process from a completely new, exciting, and creative angle. Our partner(s) needs to think that way, create that way, and do business that way.
The purpose of this document is to seek qualifications and credentials from agencies that fit the above partner profile. The FAF welcomes qualification portfolios in electronic form (PDF or disc) from agencies that are interested in being considered for an RFP that will be issued in early 2010.
Qualification portfolios should be sent by January 18, 2010 to:
            Communications Team
            Fine Arts Fund
20 East Central Parkway, Ste. 200
            Cincinnati, OH 45202
            artsandculturepartnershipcinti@gmail.com

The budget for this project has not yet been set.  The time-frame is open for discussion but our goal is to unveil our rebranded organization in late Q2/early Q3 of 2010.
