  • Second Annual Cultural Diversity in Advertising Contest

    The Cultural Diversity in Advertising Contest Official Rules

    NO PURCHASE OR MEMBERSHIP NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE OR MEMBERSHIP DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.


    1. ENTRY PERIOD. The Cultural Diversity in Advertising Contest begins at 12:01 a.m. EST on January 12, 2012, and runs through 11:59 p.m. EST on February 22, 2012.

     

    2. ELIGIBILITY. The Cultural Diversity in Advertising Contest is open to full- or part-time students attending a 2 or 4 year college or university in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region who are legal residents of the United States and who are at least eighteen (18) years of age and of the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence. Employees and officers of AdClub Cincinnati, their immediate family members, and those living in the same household are not eligible to enter or win.

     

    3. HOW TO ENTER. Submit your entry during the Entry Period and via email to jthompson@adclubcincy.org in .jpg format. Your entry should address a relevant diversity issue impacting the advertising community, as more fully described in the Contest Creative Brief which is hereby incorporated in these Official Rules. Limit one (1) entry per person.

     

    4. CONTENT OF ENTRIES. Entries must be original, owned by you, and not previously published. Entries will be deemed void if they include any material that, in the sole discretion of Sponsor, is immoral, obscene, sexually explicit, disparaging of any racial, ethnic, religious, gender, sexual orientation, or other minority group, defamatory, infringing, in violation of any third party rights, in violation of any other law, or inconsistent with the image of Sponsor.

     

    5. JUDGING AND SELECTION OF WINNERS: All eligible entries received by Sponsor will be reviewed by a panel of three judges who will assess them based on the following criteria:

     

    Message/Concept (35%)

    Creativity/Originality (35%)

    Technical Specifications (30%)

     

    The entry with the highest score will be deemed the First Prize Winner, the entry with the next highest score will be deemed the Second Place Winner, and the entry with the next highest score will be deemed the Third Place Winner, all three subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the Official Rules.

     

    6. TIEBREAKER. In the event of a tie, the response with the highest combined score in Message/Concept and Technical Specifications will be deemed the Winner.

     

    7. PRIZE. Each Winner will have his or her entry displayed to attendees of an AdClub luncheon, and will receive a one-year membership to Ad2* (valued at $45). In addition, the First Place Winner will receive a $200 cash award and a free entry of their winning contest work into the 2012-13 ADDY competition (valued at $30); the Second Place Winner will receive a $100 cash award; and the Third Place Winner will receive a $50.00 cash award. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value should any advertised prize become unavailable. Federal, state, and local taxes are solely the responsibility of the Winner.

     

    8. ODDS. All eligible entries will be judged. Odds of winning depend on the number and quality of entries. Sponsor cannot predict the number of contestants.

     

    9. WINNER NOTIFICATION. Winners will be announced February 29, 2012, on Sponsor’s website and will be contacted via email or telephone.

     

    10. REQUIREMENTS OF POTENTIAL WINNERS. Except where prohibited by law, each potential winner will be required to complete and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Compliance with Official Rules, a Publicity Release, and a Release of Liability within fourteen (14) days of notification. If a potential winner does not meet these requirements within the specified period, an alternate potential winner will be named.

     

    11. GENERAL CONDITIONS. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. Any entrant suspected of tampering with or disrupting any aspect of The Cultural Diversity in Advertising Contest will be disqualified. All decisions of judges and Sponsor are final. By your participation in The Cultural Diversity in Advertising Contest, you (i) agree to be bound by these Official Rules, (ii) represent and warrant that your entry is original, owned by you, and not previously published, (iii) agree to release, indemnify, and hold Sponsor harmless from any and all claims, liabilities, losses, and damages of any kind arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from your participation in The Cultural Diversity in Advertising Contest or your acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of the Prizes, and (iv) grant Sponsor an exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, irrevocable, sublicensable, transferable right to exploit the copyright in your entry, in any media now known or hereafter invented, without compensation or notification, except as prohibited by law.

     

    12. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. SPONSOR MAKES NO WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NONINFRINGEMENT WITH RESPECT TO THE PRIZES. SOME JURISDICTIONS MAY NOT PERMIT LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OR EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES. CHECK YOUR LOCAL LAWS TO DETERMINE IF ANY OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, or unintelligible entries, including entries not received because of interrupted or unavailable network servers, failed communications networks or equipment, computer hardware or software, or other errors or malfunctions whether human, mechanical, or electronic. Should Sponsor, in its sole discretion, determine that The Cultural Diversity in Advertising Contest has been compromised by virus, bugs, hackers, or other causes beyond its control, Sponsor reserves the right to terminate the contest and choose the Winners in a fair and reasonable manner from among all eligible entries submitted prior to termination.


    13. GOVERNING LAW. All disputes concerning the construction, interpretation, validity, effect, and enforceability of these Official Rules will be governed by the laws of the State of Ohio without regard to conflicts of laws provisions. Entrant agrees that exclusive jurisdiction over any legal action arising out of or in connection with The Cultural Diversity in Advertising Contest will be in state or federal courts located in Hamilton County, Ohio, and by entering consents to such jurisdiction and venue.

     

    14. PRIVACY. With the exception of names of Winners, which will be posted on Sponsor’s website and made public at one or more AdClub events, information collected by Sponsor in connection with The Cultural Diversity in Advertising Contest will not be shared with third parties. Any personal information you submit in connection with The Cultural Diversity in Advertising Contest will be used and collected for purposes of this contest only.

     

    15. WINNERS LIST. A list of Winners will be posted on Sponsor’s website.

     

    16. SPONSOR. The Sponsor of The Cultural Diversity in Advertising Contest is AdClub Cincinnati, 602 Main Street, Suite 806, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202.

     

    * If the winning entrant’s age makes him or her ineligible to join Ad2, then he or she will be awarded a one-year student membership to AdClub Cincinnati, also valued at $45.
